Recycling Program (08/22/2012 to present)
One of the chief responsibilities of the Green Club is to run and manage the Strongsville High School recycling program. What is especially unique about this program, which facilitates recycling from over 2,500 students and staff, is that it is completely student-run. Every Friday, members have the opportunity to collect the recyclables from around the school - they get to miss study-hall AND earn service hours! If you're interested in helping out, please contact an officer!

Creek Cleanup (10/06/2012)
On one glorious Saturday morning in October, 15 members of the Green Club and Biology 2 class at SHS met at the entrance to the trail behind the high school. The goal of the service project was to collect as much of the abundance of litter from the creek area (woods behind the HS) as we could. We spent the next couple hours scouring the woods and creek, removing all the garbage we found. Sure, some of us fell in the creek and got soaked, but it was still a fun time! At the conclusion of our project, we had collected 324.9 pounds of garbage! Interesting things we found included: a boogie board, concrete blocks, a soccer net, and a baseball bat, just to name a few! Unfortunately, due to high water levels, we weren't able to remove the picnic table and the mattress - we'll have to come back in spring for those items. Overall, it was a fun experience and a great project. Thanks to all the Green Club members and Bio 2 students who helped make this project a success!
